The checklists of arachnids

A service of the Arachnological Society, compiled by Theo Blick. Please give feedback.

The Internet lists provide an opportunity for everyone to easily inform themselves about the current status of the checklists of Germany, Switzerland and Austria and to get an overview of the species occurring in surrounding countries. The arachnid groups of Central Europe (partly incl. Northern or Western Europe) are now presented separately. It is now possible to include different countries in the orders and to have different experts administering the sites (please let us know if you are interested – T. Blick wants to successively withdraw from overseeing the 'nonspiders').

The lists must be based exclusively on published work, preferably checklists or other comprehensive works. Unpublished papers and new records (or cancellations) in press are NOT included (even if we know about these already). Valid subspecies are listed and counted as separate species. A future enlargement to encompass other surrounding countries is possible and welcome.• Updating is expected to take place at least every 2 years (previously: 2000, 2002, 2004).
