ARACHNOLOGISCHE GESELLSCHAFT

Regional Working Groups

Regional arachnological working groups in Germany were the predecessor of the AraGes. e.g. the NORAA (Nordostdeutsche Arachnologische Arbeitsgemeinschaft) originating from a circle of arachnology in the Kulturbund of the DDR (German Democratic Republic), with annual meetings between 1978 and 1989. To date there are two working groups within AraGes: SARA – Südliche Arachnologische Arbeitsgemeinschaft - since 1989, uniting arachnologists from Bayern, Baden-Württemberg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, Hessen as well as from Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia, meeting regularly for information exchange. From 1993 to 2006 the arachnologists in North-West of Germany met under the name NOWARA (Nordwestdeutsche Arachnologische Arbeitsgemeinschaft), than became inactive, but was reactivated in 2023.
